While earning his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland in the late 1990’s, Allan Van Johnson developed a passion for natural hair styling, trained and received certifications in the art and skill of traditional hair locking in 2000, and 2004 for Sisterlocks®. He noticed the need for quality hair coloring in the natural hair care industry, and became a licensed cosmetologist in 2009, merging his painting background with the science of hair coloring.

Allan has studied the theories and techniques of industry icons Beth Minardi, Michael Canale, and Tracey Cunningham. He is skilled in haircolor formulations and applications, foil highlighting/lowlighting, Balayage hair painting, corrective coloring, gray blending and coverage, thus adept at bold, creative color and low maintenance color. As a Pravana® Certified Master Hair Colorist, he teaches basic and advanced coloring techniques to fellow stylists, and educates his clients on the proper care of color treaded hair. In addition, Allan is a Ouidad® Certified Stylist cultivating coily and curly hair, and excited to provide exemplary customer service to all of his clients!
